From our study hub on the stunning Gold Coast, Grayclay’s award-winning, nationally accredited courses will help you maximise career opportunities and pathways.

You can explore all our courses here, but over the next few weeks we will be taking a closer look at two of our most popular offerings, namely our:

Graduate Diploma in Dermal Therapies (52854WA)

Advanced Diploma of Cosmetic Dermal Science (52850WA)

Both reflect our constant commitment to advancing knowledge of the skin – including the entire body’s influence on skin health – and improving therapeutic techniques and treatments.

Let us begin with the Graduate Diploma in Dermal Therapies (previously the Graduate Diploma in Dermal Science).

Why are dermal therapies so important?

Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world. Such information only makes it more important to have qualified dermal therapists able to identify skin lesions and many other issues pertaining to the skin and overall health and wellbeing.

Through practical and theoretical education, Grayclay’s Graduate Diploma of Dermal Therapies has been designed to suit candidates from a beauty or health background who are eager to achieve a formal and recognised qualification in dermal science.

Throughout this course, participants learn the skills required to carry out dermal therapy procedures effectively and efficiently. For example, dermatoscopy is an important part of the course, giving students experience and expertise in the use of a dermatoscopy to examine lesions.

We also cover laser and light-based therapies, epidermal resurfacing procedures, skin/micro-needling, holistic patient care and other new and evolving areas.

Furthermore, the Graduate Diploma broadens career pathways by producing job-ready and upskilled graduates, while providing a great core business model for those considering starting their own business.

I am already working as a beauty therapist. How can the Graduate Diploma help me?

If you are a beauty therapist ready to deepen your knowledge of the skin and heighten the benefits of the therapies you currently provide, then this is the perfect course for you.

With hands-on and holistic learning, you will explore the purposes and properties of the skin — how it acts and reacts, its chemical triggers and responses, how it heals —emerging with stronger understanding and skills that may then be applied to skin treatments and therapies for long-lasting positive effect.

What qualifications do I need to be accepted for the Graduate Diploma?

Applicants for this course must hold a minimum of Certificate IV (AQF 4) in Beauty Therapy or a Diploma (AQF5) minimum in a health-related field. Also, candidates must complete a pre-training interview to determine suitability for the course.
