Study Dermal Science.

The exciting new additions in 2020 that must be considered when selecting your future studies are:

  1. Dermatoscopy, Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world. Addressing the need for Dermal Therapists to be able to identify various skin lesions, Dermatoscopy provides and excellent starting point.
  2. Gut Flora imbalance is directly related to skin irritations. The benefit of “Healthy Gut” knowledge will assist in the consultation of clients, the treatment program and the active ingredients prescribed for a clients skin. A holistic approach to skin.

 

The 52854WA Graduate Diploma of Dermal Science is developed for candidates from a beauty or health background wanting to achieve a formal and recognised qualification in dermal science. The objective of the qualification is to provide graduates with the knowledge and hands-on skills to perform a range of safe and effective dermal therapies and meet the employment needs of a modern cosmetic medical clinic. The Dermal Therapist’s Scope of Practice includes patient consultation and assessment, dermatoscopy, laser and light-based therapies, epidermal resurfacing procedures, skin/micro needling and holistic patient care involving the integration between gut health and dermatology.

Optional Graduate Clinical Experience

Grayclay offers an optional Graduate Clinical Experience Program, designed for graduates  to gain additional experience practicing their skills and managing their workday in preparation for their career. Placement is conducted with “White Rooms Clinics” and students can elect to participate in an additional 40 or 80 hour block. There is no charge for this placement.

Once you have completed your studies with us, if at any time you would like to refresh either a unit studied or a practical competency, contact us to join our unique “Return to Learn” program at no cost. Our way of supporting you into the future.

Admission Requirements

  • Applicants must hold a minimum of Certificate IV (AQF 4) in Beauty Therapy or a Diploma (AQF5) minimum in a health – related field
  • All candidates will be required to complete a Pre-Training interview prior to enrolment, to determine the individual’s suitability for the training program.

Course Duration And Study Commitment

The course can be delivered over a range of course duration’s, depending on the needs and characteristics of the student.

  • Full Time = 5 x 10 week terms, includes 3 weeks break between each term
  • Part Time = 10 x 10 week terms, includes 3 weeks break between each term
  • Single unit mode = up to 3 years to complete qualification

16 hours per week on-campus,  plus 16 hours of self guided home study and a minimum of 10 days practical training at the Grayclay Student Clinic (equivalent part time and single unit mode).

Additional support options –  “Assessment study hours” and “Catch Up Calls” optional.

Professional Recognition

The unit CDNTLBT02 Analyse light-based therapies used in cosmetic medicine is recognised by QLD Radiation Health and the Radiological Council of WA as a formal Laser Safety Officer’s Course.

The 52854WA Graduate Diploma of Dermal Science is recognized by the QLD Radiation Health as meeting the fast-track laser licence criteria for laser hair removal, vascular and skin rejuvenation treatment categories.
